If you have a socially challenged child and wish to watch Rain Man with them for some reason, please prescreen it and think about how you wish to handle certain things.
This is not a children's movie. I'm perfectly okay with that. But you should be prepared to address certain things.
If it were me, these are some of my concerns and you may have others:
1. There is a sex scene in it and Raymond walks in on his brother Charlie having sex and sits down and begins watching TV.
Charlie yells at Raymond and tells him get out and his girlfriend says "Go talk to him." and then Charlie continues being ugly to Raymond. To her credit, the girlfriend walks out.
This is to my mind a shockingly common theme in movies and TV shows: That a child or socially impaired individual who doesn't know better can walk in on this because they didn't lock the door.
In this case, they didn't even close it.
I would tell my child Charlie is in the wrong for not closing and locking the door and sex is a private matter and grown ups should arrange privacy for sexual intimacy.
2. Raymond's much younger brother Charlie is kind of ethically challenged and was never close to his father. So the deceased father and the brother are both kind of socially impaired, though neither has a diagnosis of autism.
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a spectrum and it's extremely common for immediate relatives to have similar traits without having or wanting a diagnosis.
Men in particular need to make good money and if they are socially challenged or otherwise handicapped, they tend to actively deny that they are "like" their clearly handicapped child.
I used to actively compare my husband's handwriting problems and other issues to the exact same problems our kids had, though mostly behind his back because he didn't want to hear that he might be handicapped.
My point was typically "Your father has a lot of the same issues and he has a successful career. This doesn't mean you can't ever have a good life."
3. At some point, Charlie's girlfriend dances with Raymond and kisses him.
This doesn't sit well with me. She was basically giving him pity, not looking to get involved with him and I was extremely big on teaching my children people needed their consent for things like hugs and kisses.
That's not an experience anyone needs. No one needs someone to kiss them "so you've been kissed once and have the experience."
That's not the same as someone kissing you because they really like you.
4. Raymond's ethically challenged brother essentially kidnaps Raymond and later uses Raymond to make a bunch of money in Las Vegas to solve his financial problems and save his business and doesn't split the proceeds with Raymond.
It's extremely common for Twice Exceptional people to be taken advantage of by other people who thinks it's COOL you are brilliant at X and then not feel obligated to include you in the proceeds.
Twice Exceptional children should be warned that such people aren't your friends and you don't need to go along with such schemes.
If it's illegal or they aren't splitting the money with you, you are allowed to opt out and should.
